DECEMBER BREAKDOWN: BONUS POST
Well, like I said before. We did it. And then some. It’d be weird to not do one final breakdown for the year of 300, so here are the final stats for the month and for the year.
Here are my rankings of every 2024 release I saw this year.
Here’s a list of my favorite TV shows for 2024.
Let’s wrap this out one more time.
General Breakdown
In all, I hit 28 films this month and for the year, 314. Which is a lot. Something I won’t ever plan to do again.
This month, 21 of those films were new, making my total of new films for the year 247, far exceeding my initial goal.
Two were ten year rewatches bringing my total to 31 and five general rewatched films bringing that total to 36.

The genre breakdown of those 28 films are:

The numbers in parentheses are the total for the year.

2020s - 16 (97)
The numbers in parentheses are the total for the year.
Favorite New Film
Kneecap is probably my favorite new film here because it is so funny and delightful and I wanted it to win Best International Feature.
Favorite Rewatch
I feel like it’s easy to say Gremlins, because it’s so damn good, but realistically, it’s The Muppet Christmas Carol. This is a film that originally I was late too, but as I said before, I love Muppets and this film is way too good for its own good. Michael Caine plays this shit so seriously while everyone else is having an incredible time.
Surprise Film
Nickel Boys is a film I thought was going to be hard to watch for the gimmick of it being shot in first person POV, but god damn this movie has sat with me so much. There’s a reason I ranked it #3 of my favorite new releases this year. For something I don’t consider a five star-film, so many images are burned into my head.
And there we are. We’ve reached the end of the years and it’s been a lot. Things work wise on the horizon do not seem great, but at least it’s a new year. Thank you for following along and hopefully you still will in the future.
